Comprehensive Brushless PM Motor Design Book

MOTORSOFT® of Lebanon, Ohio, announces the availability of Dr. Duane Hanselman's book entitled "Brushless Permanent Magnet Motor Design - Second Edition." This 387 page book is dedicated to the design of high performance brushless PM motors. Dr. Hanselman holds a PhD. from the University of Illinois and is currently an electrical engineering professor at the University of Maine.

This second edition follows the same philosophy as the first edition, to start with the basic concepts, supply intuitive reasoning, and gradually build a set of understandable concepts for the design of brushless PM motors. The first three chapters follow closely those of the first edition. The middle chapters transition into a more comprehensive review of the brushless motor fundamentals including the magnetic design, winding basics and the elements of electrical control. Chapter 10 is a wealth of information concerning examples of over 100 pages covering motor designs ranging from 2 pole through 32 pole configurations. This chapter alone is worth the price of this book for the practicing motor design engineer.

This text does not assume that you know the motor design jargon. It has extensive appendices and glossaries to help the reader understand the terms. For those engineers that need a descriptive and comprehensive review of brushless PM motor design, Dr. Hanselman has provided it in this second edition.
