Comarco to Expand Product Range and Develop New Markets for its Wireless Quality of Service Measurement Systems

LAKE FOREST, Calif., Dec. 14-- Comarco, Inc. (NASDAQ:CMRO), an industry-leading supplier of wireless test systems for field applications, today announced that its Wireless Test Systems division is expanding its range of test, optimization and Quality of Service (QoS) measurement products.

In November, Comarco announced that it had formed an alliance with Ascom to develop and market advanced QoS test and measurement solutions for 3G and 4G wireless standards.

The company further intends to accelerate the introduction of several products that will help wireless carriers optimize the performance of new cellular networks. Leveraging the company's industry-leading Fast Scanning receiver technology, these products will allow network technicians to find, diagnose and fix complex problems for all major 2G and 3G standards as well as for emergent Mobile TV and Broadband Wireless (WiMAX) networks.

Comarco is also increasing its Sales and Marketing resources in Asia and Latin America to better serve its customers in these growing markets and to position the company for the deployment phase of 3G systems in China, Mexico and elsewhere in Latin America.

"Comarco has long been a leader in network optimization, and we see a growing opportunity for optimization tools as wireless carriers continue to deploy complex new technologies such as 3G," said Tom Franza, CEO of Comarco. "With the Ascom alliance in place, the optimization market is a perfect complement to our global leadership in Quality of Service and competitive benchmarking, and will allow us to leverage existing technology and capabilities, providing an expanded range of products to our customer base, worldwide.

"Additionally, by helping carriers optimize new wireless infrastructure, we gain insight into the problems facing carriers deploying advanced services and can use this insight to enhance our QoS and competitive benchmarking products, thus leveraging our technical development costs over a wider product base and bringing additional revenue on-line," Mr. Franza added.

The company believes that the deployment of advanced, high-capacity next- generation broadband wireless networks will bring a new wave of network build- out. In turn, this will increase demand for initial deployment and optimization products. Furthermore, it believes that that the complex video and high data rate services being planned for these networks will require significant optimization and integration requiring advanced engineering test products. Once these advanced services are fully integrated and validated, carriers will look to include these new network services and features into their QoS programs.
