Chemical Manufacturer Elevates New President

Russell Brown brings 25-years of experience to new leadership role at Shotwell Hydrogenics

(MIDLAND, TEXAS – October 1, 2020) – Shotwell Hydrogenics, a leading chemical manufacturer, has appointed Russell Brown to the role of President. He will provide strategic guidance and day-to-day leadership for the Midland-based company effective October 1, 2020.

Brown brings 25-years of chemical manufacturing experience to the role and previously served as the company’s vice president of business development. Prior to joining Shotwell, he held roles spanning the personal care, HI&I (household, industrial and institutional), and oil and gas industries. Brown has held positions at Pilot Chemical Company, Tendeka, C&J Energy Services, and served in the U.S. Army.

“Russell has proven to provide critical leadership to Shotwell since he joined us in January,” said Bravis Brown, Chief Executive Officer for Shotwell Hydrogenics. “He has a penchant for developing strong relationships, has been able to establish a world-class supply chain, and he ensures that Shotwell is on the leading edge of good manufacturing processes. Moreover, he operates with integrity, which is critical to our company’s culture.”

Shotwell manufactures specialty chemicals for the oilfield, agriculture, and HI&I markets. In early 2020, when a nationwide shortage of hand sanitizer developed, Shotwell pivoted some production capacity to generating USP-grade hand sanitizers. In addition to enhanced oil recovery surfactants, completions chemicals, and agricultural inputs, the Midland-based facility produces both 70% (v/v) USP-grade isopropyl alcohol formulations as well as 70% (v/v) USP-grade ethyl alcohol formulations.

“I’m delighted to shepherd Shotwell and our talented team into the next phase of company growth,” said Russell Brown. “Shotwell has a very scalable business model and has been set-up to successfully expand into new industries and grow our market share in existing lines of business. Moreover, we have the right team in place to realize our vision for the future of the company.”

Russell Brown holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Chemistry from Sam Houston State University and is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration. He was a member of the 82nd Chemical Battalion and graduated from the U.S. Army Chemical School with honors.

Shotwell is a state-of-the-art, ISO9001:2015 certified and NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) certified chemical manufacturing plant with strict quality assurance and quality control measures in place.
