Chem Polymer Starts up New Engineering Thermoplastics Compounding Line at Teknor Apex Site in Tennessee

Addition Is the Latest in an Ongoing Teknor Apex Program of Global Expansion in ETPs

BROWNSVILLE, TN, U.S.A., June 4, 2007: The Chem Polymer subsidiary of Teknor Apex Company has begun commercial-scale production of Chemlon® nylon and other engineering thermoplastics (ETPs) on a new 24,000,000-lb. (10,900-metric ton) compounding line at this site, it was announced today by Scott E. Fleming, vice president and business manager.

The line is the latest addition in a rapid worldwide expansion of ETP compounding capacity that has taken place since Teknor Apex acquired Chem Polymer in 2004.

"Teknor Apex has invested aggressively in the personnel, equipment, and information systems needed to make Chem Polymer a leader in the global ETP marketplace," Fleming said. "Building on a well established business in appliance, automotive, electrical and electronics, and other OEM markets, we intend to provide customers with identical, specification-compliant compounds no matter where in the world they operate their plants."

Chem Polymer now produces its nylon, acetal copolymer, PBT, and PET compounds at three sites in the U.S. The original Chem Polymer plant in the U.S. is at Ft. Myers, FL. After acquiring Chem Polymer, Teknor Apex also began producing the ETP products of its new subsidiary at an established Teknor Apex facility in Lodi, OH.

In the United Kingdom, Chem Polymer manufactures its ETP compounds at a plant in Oldbury, West Midlands that has long served the European market.

Another Teknor Apex subsidiary, Singapore Polymer Corp. (SPC), now manufactures identical products for the Asian market. Similarly, the newly established subsidiary Teknor Apex (Suzhou) Advanced Polymer Compounds Co. will produce the ETPs at a plant just starting up in Suzhou, China.
