CH2M HILL Begins Construction on Clovis Sewage Treatment Water Reuse Facility

Clovis, Calif., 30 July 2007 - CH2M HILL, a global full-service engineering, construction and operations firm, has completed the design and begun construction for the 2.8 million gallon per day Clovis Sewage Treatment Water Reuse Facility.

CH2M HILL is serving as the design, build, operator for this facility located in Clovis, Calif. Construction on the facility commenced in May and is expected to be completed by December 2008. CH2M HILL will operate the facility through 2018.

Combining state-of-the-art wastewater treatment technologies will help the facility reduce its environmental footprint. A membrane bioreactor integrates liquid treatment and ultrafiltration solids separation, providing for enhanced treatment that yields high-quality reuse water. Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection utilizes low energy UV for minimal power consumption. The Siemens Cannibal(TM) Solids Reduction Process will minimize solids generated from the treatment facility, significantly reducing truck traffic in the community and minimizing landfill use. Additionally, these technologies will make the facility highly automated, requiring fewer staff to operate than a conventional treatment facility.

The facility is designed to blend in with the local residential and business community. Architectural features include prairie-style architecture, water features, and extensive landscaping and screening to minimize visual impact. The facility also includes extensive odor control, including reuse of odorous air within the treatment process and biofilters.
