Carmanah Technologies Granted 2005

Victoria, British Columbia, Canada January 18 2006 - Carmanah Technologies Inc. is pleased to announce that it has won two 2005 Canada Export Awards from International Trade Canada, recognizing the country's most successful exporters.

The first, the "Innovation Export Award" is one of nine category awards. It is presented to a company that has successfully conceived, developed and launched a new and innovative product or service through collaboration in the science and technology field. The second, the "Canadian Exporter of the Year" Award, recognizes Carmanah's overall excellence as a Canadian exporter.

Canada's Deputy Minister of International Trade, Peter Harder, presented the awards to Dr. David Green, Carmanah's founder and Chairman, at a luncheon ceremony in Ottawa on Monday, December 5, 2005.

"We are honoured to be selected for these prestigious national awards," said Dr. David Green. "Such recognition is a positive reflection of our ongoing success in the
growing global market for our renewable energy and energy-efficient technology products."

Carmanah is Canada's leading exporter of solar power systems and equipment, solar-powered LED lighting and LED-illuminated signage. Carmanah's international operations include branch offices and/or sales representation in 11 cities across Canada, the U.S. and the U.K.

Recent export achievements include a $1.5 million contract for solar-powered LED bus stop lighting for the City of London, England, and an $885,000 contract for bus stop lighting for the City of Chicago, Illinois.

"This has been a landmark year for our international operations," stated Art Aylesworth, Carmanah's CEO. "Milestones reached in 2005 include earning the London bus stop contract, opening our U.K.-based operations, and acquiring a prominent renewable energy company that effectively doubles our export offerings."

The Canada Export Awards were established by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1983. The awards formally recognize excellence in global competitiveness among Canadian companies, specifically success in export sales growth, introduction of new products and services to world markets, and breaking into new markets. Finalists are selected from an extensive list of nominees by a committee of business leaders and government officials from across Canada.
