Calnetix Technologies to Present Paper at Motor & Drive Systems Conference 2018

CERRITOS, Calif. – Feb. 5, 2018 – Co Huynh, a co-founder of Calnetix Technologies and the Business Unit Leader for the company's electric turbo division, will present a paper on motor and drive systems on Feb. 8 at the Motor & Drive Systems Conference 2018 in Orlando, Fla.

The paper, titled, “Rotor Retention and Loss Reduction for High-Speed Permanent Magnet Motors and Generators,” will address the advantages of high-speed permanent magnet electric machines, design challenges of high-speed permanent magnet machines and state-of-the-art magnet retention technologies. The author also will present a novel rotor loss reduction method for consideration in enhancing a machine’s thermal performance.

Huynh has over 30 years of experience in designing and developing advanced motors, generators and electromagnetic devices for automotive, industrial and aerospace applications. After founding Calnetix and serving as Vice President of Engineering, he transferred to its subsidiary, Direct Drive Systems (DDS), in 2008 to lead a subsea pump development project. In 2009, DDS was purchased by FMC Technologies, where he served as Manager of Special Projects. Prior to founding Calnetix, Huynh worked for Allied Signal Aerospace Company, Hughes Research Laboratories and Avcon, Inc. He has been granted multiple patents in the area of electric machines and electromagnetic devices. Huynh has a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University.
