Bytemobile Opens Fourth R&D Center at University of Illinois Research Park

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Bytemobile, Inc., the global leader in optimized Internet protocol (IP) services for mobile data networks, today announced the opening of a new research and development center in the Research Park at the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois. The company also maintains R&D centers in Mountain View, California; Marlborough, Massachusetts; and Patras, Greece. Bytemobile was founded in 2000 by two professors of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, whose College of Engineering is ranked among the leading programs in the world.

According to Brian Heaney, Bytemobile vice president of Engineering, the Champaign center has recruited University of Illinois graduate students to support the development of new IP services for wireless data networks.

The Research Park at the University of Illinois provides an environment where technology-based businesses can work with university research faculty and students to take advantage of opportunities for collaborative research and access to university laboratories and services. The Research Park now houses approximately 50 high-technology companies, which employ nearly 1,000 people and more than 200 student interns from the university.
