December 28, 2006

Brother International, a leader in home and business IT peripherals, has been awarded a top vendor position in the'Systems' category of the second ZDNet Asia Top Tech Index 2006/2007, in recognition of its excellent financial performance that saw the established information and communication technology company achieving an all-time high of US$2.23 billion in terms of revenue in 6 months ending September 30, 2006 for the fiscal year 2006-07.

Brother's focus on bringing cost-effective products and innovative technologies into the market as part of its 'customer-first' approach also saw the global major being declared the 'Windows Magazine Best Business MFD Winner' and bagging the 'Best Business Printer Award' during the recently concluded IT trade fair, GITEX Dubai 2006.

Yoshihisa Tsuji, Managing Director, Brother Gulf, said: "It is a privilege for Brother to be named as one of the top 50 IT vendors in Asia and we are also honoured to win prestigious awards from Windows magazine. This is a fitting testimonial to our hard work all these years in achieving a strong international presence, complemented by human expertise and technical knowledge."

"Over the past year, Brother Gulf had sought to target the booming IT peripherals market by delivering a unique range of products which incorporate patented technologies. We had focused attention on building strong customer relations, and it is encouraging to note that these efforts are yielding positive results. Our remarkable financial growth is also a tribute to the sustained efforts by the Brother Group to enhance its R&D capability and thus maintain its excellence in product innovation," he added.

The ZDNet Asia Top Tech Index chose 50 leading industry players on the basis of their outstanding financial performance, proven track record and commitment to the Asian market, following an evaluation of more than 100 companies operating across 10 countries in Asia. Brother's outstanding financial performance saw an average year-on-year increase of 13.94 per cent and 5.15 per cent for its revenue and net income respectively over the last four years, helping it bag the heavily contested award. The nomination criteria included global headcount, global revenue, global net income, average revenue year-on-year growth over four years, average net income year-on-year growth over four years and Asian market coverage.

Brother's listing in ZDNet Asia's Top Tech Index comes on the heels of its successful 'Friend of CASE Award' win in November this year, underscoring its dedication to first-class customer service. The company also emerged as the gold winner in the 'Office Equipment' category of the coveted Readers Digest Trusted Brand Award 2006 for the second year running in April, Best Value Award from Windows Magazine, UAE in June 2006 and Editor's Choice Windows Magazine, UAE in July 2006. These affirm the company's position as a leading market player and as an organisation working consistently to meet its customers' varied needs, now and into the future.

"Brother's outstanding performance is in line with the group's ambitious 'Global Vision 21' which sees Brother as a global leader with high profitability. By embodying the motto of 'at your side' in the company's corporate culture worldwide, Brother is committed to offer products with outstanding proprietary technologies and world-class customer service that meets our clients' ever-changing needs," concluded Tsuji.
