Brightest IDEA Award Recipient Honored at Electro E-Biz Forum 2006

Arlington, VA- October 11, 2006 - IDEA announced the recipient of the 2006 Brightest IDEA Award. Ann Adams, Manager of Marketing Planning and Information, Square D - Schneider Electric was presented with the award at the Electro E-Biz Forum 2006 in Long Beach, California on September 27.

The Brightest IDEA Award is a peer award that recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions in support of industry e-commerce initiatives, standards and programs. Each year, the award is given out to one individual from an electrical manufacturer and/or distributor organization.

Adams spearheaded the creation of key industry Flat File standards that make it very easy for companies to embrace e-commerce and she was instrumental in enabling Square D/Schneider Electric trading partners to use their marketing co-op funds to implement IDEA services.

"Ann Adams is a huge asset to the electrical industry because she brings a lot of information and knowledge to the table from the various NEMA and NAED teams that she participates on," said Angela LiVolsi, Advance. "She also brings us full circle on all aspects of IDEA."

Adams has been a part of the Square D/Schneider Electric staff for over 25 years. She started out as a transportation department clerk and eventually worked her way up to Manager of Marketing Planning and Information. During her career at Square D Ann was asked to join the Customer Service Department, and quickly thereafter she was promoted to a post that involved electronic data interchange (EDI).

In addition to her work at Square D/Schneider Electric, Adams has become involved with a number of committees and subcommittees connected to the industry. She was just elected as the Chair of the IDEA Standards Committee and was already Chair of both the Standards Awareness and Communications Committee and the Flat File Subcommittee.

"What strikes me about Ann is that she truly leads by example. She has great conviction that collaboration and doing things well can make the industry better for all of us," said Barbara Prince, Carlon/Lamson and Sessions.

The Electro E-Biz Forum 2006 was jointly hosted by IDEA; the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED); the Electro-Federation Canada (EFC); the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA); and the National Electrical Manufacturers Representatives Association (NEMRA).

The Electro E-Biz Forum 2007 will be held on September 18 - 20 at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
