Blue-Lux(TM) Light technology. This is the newest breakthrough technology for use in the treatment of Seasonal Affective Disorder, commonly known as the winter depression, or the winter blues. As the days get shorter the onset of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a clinically proven form of depression, impacts nearly 10 million people in the United States, of which 80 percent are female.
Current research indicates that the absence of sunlight triggers a biochemical reaction that may cause symptoms such as loss of energy, fatigue, lethargy, decreased activity, sadness, excessive eating, carbohydrate cravings and sleepiness. The major problem with current treatment is the lengthy time commitment of 30 minutes to 2 hours needed to receive the necessary therapy. This lengthy time therapy regimen results in a 60 percent failure rate of the prescribed treatment.
