Bell Microproducts Opens New Value-Add Facility in Bay Area

New San Jose Facility Underscores Company's Commitment to Offer Full Range of Integration Solutions From Design to Deployment

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Bell Microproducts, Inc. (NASDAQ:BELM), a Fortune 1000 company and a leading provider of a wide range of high-technology products, solutions and services for the industrial and commercial markets, has doubled its Northern California integration facilities with the opening of a new 26,000 sq. ft. Configuration Center at 326 Charcot Avenue in San Jose, Calif. The new facility provides additional space and technology to complete cutting-edge integration and configuration services. Later today, the company will host an Open House showcasing the new facility and highlighting its technology partners.

The new Configuration Center will accommodate design, integration and deployment of solutions for customers and offers them the ability to maximize both technologies and product lifecycles for a competitive advantage. The physical layout of this ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturing, configuration, integration facility incorporates improved material flow concepts, providing enhanced productivity. This new facility reflects the company's continuing commitment to invest in value-added manufacturing and brings Bell Micro customers the most cost effective solutions available.

"We are continuously enhancing our value-added capabilities and our services to our customers," said Don Bell, founder and CEO of Bell Microproducts. "We recognize that the Bay Area is a very important market for our business, and we believe the location and logistics capabilities of the Configuration Center will immediately enable us to expand our services to our clients and partners in the San Jose area."

The decision to open the center in San Jose also demonstrates Bell Microproducts' commitment to investing in the local community. The San Jose Configuration Center is expected to bring more than 200 new jobs to the Bay Area over the next two to three years, and Bell Microproducts is recruiting to fill up to 30 of those positions immediately.

This sentiment proved popular when Don Bell recently co-chaired the Bay Area Council's 34th Annual Outlook Conference, the premier annual briefing on the Bay Area's state of affairs. This conference brings together local business leaders and statewide public officials to examine business, political and economic issues and trends affecting the coming year. This year's annual Outlook event, which featured California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and the State Legislature's four leaders, centered on the theme of investing in the future, which is a theme Bell echoes for his own company, an industry-recognized specialist in storage products and one of the world's largest storage-centric value-added distributors.

Approximately 250 people from Bell Microproducts' key customer companies will be on hand to participate in today's Open House events. They will be given a tour of the facility and will be able to interact with Bell Micro personnel to better understand how they can take advantage of the additional capabilities, features and services offered at the new location. Bell Microproducts, which sponsors a Grand Prix race car, will also raffle off two VIP tickets to the San Jose Grand Prix on Sunday, July 30, 2006 during the event.
