BASF Sponsors Two Earth Day Events at EDCO Park, Evans City

15th annual community celebration promotes environmental awareness and park cleanup encourages environmental responsibility

EVANS CITY, PA, April 16, 2010 -- "The Green Generation" is the theme of the 15th Annual BASF Earth Day Celebration. This year, the company will host two events to be held at EDCO Park in Evans City, Pennsylvania. The first event will take place on Saturday, April 17 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. when BASF employees and community volunteers will help to clean up and beautify the park. The second event will take place the following Saturday, on April 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include events and activities for the whole community, free of charge. Both events will be held rain or shine.

"As a company that makes products better, BASF also has a strong commitment to making our environment and the communities we are living in better,"
said Mike Pcolinski, Vice President for BASF's Inorganics Business in North America. "For 15 years, we have been working with various members of the Evans City community on our Earth Day event. It is great to see our community come together to beautify EDCO Park."

The Earth Day celebration on April 24 will include a variety of exhibits by local environmental groups, including the Pennsylvania CleanWays and Wildbird Recovery. The Butler County Humane Society will also be present and accepting donations. The event will also feature refreshments and youth activities sponsored by BASF Corporation, Armstrong Cable and Eat'n Park cookies and face painting.

A highlight of this year's event will once again be the display of posters created by fifth grade students from Evans City Middle School featuring the Earth Day theme. The winners, who will be announced at an assembly held at Evans City Middle School the week prior to the event, will receive ribbons and a gift card. The overall winning design will be featured on this year's official BASF Earth Day T-shirt, which will be given to all fifth grade students.

BASF employees will be on hand at the Earth Day event to answer questions about the company's Evans City operations. BASF's Evans City site employs approximately 135 people. Products from the site are used mainly in the pharmaceutical industry, and are also used in applications like agrochemicals, surfactants, adhesives, polymers, electronics, flavors, fragrances and automobiles.
