BASF Catalysts' Brazil Facility Receives Top Supplier Award from Honda for the Sixth Consecutive Year

ISELIN, NJ, April 27, 2009 - BASF Catalysts' manufacturing facility in Indaiatuba, Brazil, has received a top supplier award from Honda Automóveis do Brasil, for the sixth year in a row.

After five years of citing BASF for quality, Honda recognized the company this year for its work in developing a new cost-effective emissions control catalyst to meet Brazil's tightening regulations. BASF was one of only three suppliers to win a Honda supplier award for the development category in 2008.

To Honda, "development" spans a wide range of metrics - in this case, the quality of the emissions catalysts, delivery, communication, quality audit results and documentation.

"In every one of the past six years, catalysts produced at the Indaiatuba plant have met Honda's rigorous quality standards," says Jerônimo Cruz, Director of BASF Catalysts' South American operations. "The level of trust we have developed with the company enables us to work for each other's success and expand our businesses. This includes the development of new catalyst technologies to meet stricter emissions standards."

BASF Catalysts Indaiatuba site produces catalysts for the Brazilian operations of many global automotive companies. The site began production in January 2000 and has provided emissions catalysts to Honda's Brazilian affiliate, Honda Automoveis do Brasil Ltd., since 2002. BASF recently completed a major expansion of the Indaiatuba facility to meet the increased demand generated by tightening emissions standards.

BASF Catalysts' mobile emission control technologies offer cost-effective regulatory compliance solutions for light duty gasoline and diesel engines, heavy duty diesel engines, motorcycles, small engines, and more.
