Barclay Mechanical helped Sponsor the 4th place winners of a National, Electric-Car Competition for Youth

(Indianapolis, Ind.; May 1, 2017) – Barclay Mechanical helped sponsor 10 local Manti High School students in a national completion racing their student-built, single-seat, electric-powered car on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indianapolis 500.

The team placed 4th in the nation, against 27 other teams in their division. Despite some problems with the team’s engine, the group of boys were able to quickly correct the issues and still manage a 4th place win.

This same group took 1st place in their category in a state competition last year. Winning the state competition qualified them to attend the national competition in Indiana.

Utah State University and “Gear Up” have united to give students across Utah the opportunity to develop their engineering skills at a young age. Their hope is to build skills and interest in green powered projects at younger ages to jump-start their progression into their education and careers.

“Barclay Mechanical is a proud sponsor of our high school students and are always grateful for the opportunity to help young students have once-in-a-lifetime opportunities like these,” said Ken Barclay, Co-Owner of Barclay Mechanical and COO.
