BancTec Takes Leadership Position in Helping to Create Better Value, Lower Transaction Costs in Healthcare Industry

Educational Grantor Sponsorship of the 6th Annual Medical Banking Institute highlights company's commitment to improving healthcare through technology and services platform

DALLAS, Feb. 26 -- BancTec, a global provider of advanced, high volume document and payment processing solutions, is joining with other industry leaders in an effort to improve health costs, quality and access by supporting the pioneering work of the Medical Banking Project (MBProject) as the Educational Grantor Sponsor of the 6th Annual Medical Banking Institute. MBProject coined the term "medical banking(TM)" to denote the emerging global convergence of banking and healthcare systems.

With its business process outsourcing (BPO), technology, and banking industry expertise, BancTec is a natural partner for the banks, healthcare organizations, policy makers, commercial leaders and others that comprise MBProject. All these groups are working to improve the quality of life in communities around the world by "converting digital savings into charitable resources."

BancTec has built particular BPO expertise and resources in the healthcare industry, highlighted in the U.S. by its RemitCycle 360(TM) revenue cycle management solution, which automates and unifies the administrative and financial events between providers, payers and banks. This BPO solution helps combat a huge source of inefficiency in the healthcare system by facilitating electronic processing of explanation of benefits (EOB) forms and money transfers from health insurers to medical providers. Reducing the time and money spent processing paperwork enables healthcare providers to focus on their real mission-improving care for their patients.

"We are excited to be involved with the Medical Banking Project and working with so many other industry leaders to develop new approaches in the effort to make healthcare more affordable and accessible for all," said Jeff Brown, vice president of BancTec's Business Process Outsourcing practice in the Americas. "The efficiencies we have developed in our global BPO practice, as well as our long-term understanding of banking technology, have provided some unique insight that we hope to share through such events as the Medical Banking Institute."

One of the highlights of the Medical Banking Institute, which will be held April 1-3 in Marietta, Georgia, is the BancTec Reception and Networking Gala. The Gala is part of a 3-day gathering of top experts who will discuss successes and challenges in the new medical banking domain.
