Avaya Joins Forces With GVT to Bring the Benefits of IP Telephony to Customers Throughout Brazil

Agreement Between Technology Provider and Carrier to Address Demand for Integrated, Secure and Reliable IP Solutions

SAO PAULO, Brazil, Dec. 12 - Avaya (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services, today announced that it has joined forces with GVT, a leading telecommunications carrier in Brazil to offer voice, data and IP Telephony solutions to customers throughout the country. The Agreement will bring Avaya's industry-leading contact center and IP Telephony solutions for large enterprises together with GVT's experience in supplying voice over IP, long distance and international direct calls, data and internet services.

Both companies will focus on providing communications applications and a complete portfolio of services to mid-sized and large companies throughout Brazil. As a result of this agreement, customers will benefit from increased access to Avaya solutions, discounts on Avaya phones, and reduced calling costs. For example, savings made on monthly GVT calling plans could offset the cost of Avaya products.

Avaya and GVT will use their distribution channels to offer solutions and services and develop new products. These channels include 50 GVT authorized agents in multiple sales points throughout the country in addition to Avaya's 80 direct and indirect resellers in Brazil.

"This agreement with GVT involves every step of customer care -- from prospecting to post-sale support. As a result, customers will not hear 'this issue can only be solved by the equipment manufacturer' or 'only the network carrier can solve the problem'", explains GVT's vice-president for the Corporate Market, Paulo Humberto Gouvea. "Both parties are committed to providing prompt solutions with a common goal: total customer satisfaction," added Gouvea.

"Today, there are an increasing number of service providers offering services based on Voice over IP (VoIP) and IP Telephony. We feel that Avaya's global leadership in IP Telephony, combined with GVT's service provider experience will demonstrate a clear advantage to customers when selecting an IP solution. Not only does Avaya let customer migrate to IP Telephony at their path and pace, but our solutions enable competitive advantage by making people more productive, processes more intelligent and most importantly, customers more satisfied," explained Marcos Figueiredo, director of channels for Avaya in Brazil.
