Army Awards Contract with Ultra Electronics - DNE Technologies

5-Year Contract Valued at $70 M

Wallingford, CT - Ultra Electronics-DNE Technologies, a provider of tactical voice and data communication solutions, announced the award of a five-year requirements contract from the U.S. Army. The contract covers all of Ultra-DNE's existing tactical communication products, and carries a ceiling of $70 million.

Ultra-DNE's Army contract covers the complete range of tactical communications equipment offered by the company. These products support a unique transition strategy toward the DoD's vision of Network Centric Communications by offering newer, high-speed IP networking technologies while supporting deployed legacy equipment. Ultra-DNE products include multiplexers for both fixed and mobile communications, service delivery managers, network access concentrators, and protocol converters, as well as spare hardware.

Ultra Electronics-DNE Technologies' President and CEO William Gill, stated "Ultra-DNE has an extensive history of providing communications equipment to the US DoD, and the Army has always been a leader in implementing new technology. This contract is a vote of confidence that our products will be a part of US Military communications well beyond the scope of this contract." He added that a "significant" amount of orders had been awaiting the finalization of this contract, and those orders are expected to be placed with Ultra-DNE shortly.

This contract award renews a 2001 contract, which expired earlier this year. The contract covers equipment for new installations as well as upgrades to existing Ultra-DNE equipment previously installed, including support for the USMC's 2006 $18.4M order to upgrade their MRC-142 tactical radio system. The new contract also adds the newest DNE products, such as the CV-MCU2 line of NRZ/CDI/Fiber multiplexing converters, and the new PacketAssure Service Delivery Manager series.
