ANSI announces new assignments and appointments.

NSF International, a member and accredited standards developer of the ANSI, announced that Jennifer Tong has been appointed director of the Restaurant Food Safety Division. Ms. Tong will be responsible for the strategic development of the NSF Dine Safer(TM) program. Starting July 2008, Thomas G. Loughlin will become executive director of the ASME. Also Raymond A. Morris will retire in April as executive VP and CEO of SAE International.

People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.
NSF International, a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) announced that Jennifer Tong has been appointed director of NSF's Restaurant Food Safety Division. In her new role, Ms. Tong is responsible for the strategic development of the NSF Dine Safer(TM) program, a certification plan that helps restaurants and other retail food service establishments improve the quality and safety of their food.
Before joining NSF, Ms. Tong served as a health and safety regulatory affairs consultant and as department director for the National Restaurant Association (NRA). Prior to the NRA, she worked as the director of food safety and nutrition outreach for the United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association (UFFVA) where she provided technical advice to members and association staff departments on produce food safety, food security and nutrition.
Starting July 2008, Thomas G. Loughlin will become executive director of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer.
Mr. Loughlin has been serving as ASME deputy executive director and second assistant treasurer since 2005. In this position, he has been leading the implementation of the Society's scorecard system for addressing strategic and operational goals. He also manages the ASME Engineering and Technology Enterprise area which includes codes and standards.
A certified association executive, Mr. Loughlin received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Lafayette College, PA. He is active in several organizations including the American Society of Association Executives, the Council on Engineering and Scientific Executives, the National Outdoor Leadership School, the New York Society of Association Executives, and Engineers without Borders.
Raymond A. Morris will retire in April as executive vice president and chief operating officer of SAE International, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer.
His immediate focus is on executing a seamless executive transition : "It's an honor to serve this organization and I want to help ensure its successful future, so I will do all I can to work closely with David Schutt, our new Executive Vice President and COO-elect to ensure a smooth changeover."
Mr. Morris, who also serves as president of the Performance Review Institute (PRI), has led SAE International through some of its most significant milestones, including its 100th anniversary in 2005, and a formal name change.
A graduate of Robert Morris University and a Certified Association Executive (CAE), Mr. Morris was formerly on the boards for the American National Standards Institute, the Automotive Hall of Fame, and the International Federation of Automobile Engineering Societies Council, where he served as vice president. Morris is a past president of the Pittsburgh Society of Association Executives, and currently serves on the boards of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, America on Wheels Museum and the Doyle Center.
