Alvin Products Announces New Ownership


A win-win collaboration for two Massachusetts specialty paint manufacturers

EVERETT, MASS. -- Dampney Company Inc., manufacturer of specialty paints and high temperature protective coatings since 1917, has purchased the assets of Alvin Products, Inc. of Lawrence, manufacturer of Lab-metal repair and patching compounds since 1950. The joining of the two Massachusetts manufacturers will expand Dampney's reach, bringing innovative industrial repair products, specialty paints and high temperature protective coatings to new markets worldwide.

Alvin Products, formerly owned by the Aikman family, is a longtime business ally of Dampney's. "We have partnered with Dampney on product development and private labeling for years," commented Dennis Aikman, past Alvin Products President who joins Dampney's sales team. "Adding our Lab-metal line to Dampney's offerings will achieve mutual growth goals."

Dampney President Raymond Pavlik noted, "We're excited about expanding our line of innovative paint and coating systems through our new Alvin division of Dampney." For more than 80 years, Dampney has manufactured technically advanced products used in the refining, chemical processing, primary metal, utility, pipeline, gas, and paper industries, as well as military and OEM uses. Dampney serves worldwide markets with its Thurmalox® high-temperature coatings; OEM product finishes; Apexior® waterside corrosion-resistant coatings; Elastoid® high-build elastomeric coating and vapor barrier; Epodur® Novolac 100% solids systems for secondary containment, flooring, and concrete; Dymacryl® water-repellent masonry stains; and Endcor® corrosion resistant coatings for industrial maintenance.

Dampney's new Alvin division will continue to manufacture industrial repair and maintenance compounds, including Lab-metal, a one-part, high temperature dent filler used by welders, powder coaters, foundries, and numerous industrial repair industries. Specialty Dampney products will be soon be available to Alvin's North American distribution network of welding, industrial, foundry, woodworking, automotive, bearing / transmission and construction supply companies.
