Alliantz Flexible Packaging Formed to Address Global Flexible Packaging Supply Requirements

Addison, IL-(September 26, 2005)-Alliantz Flexible Packaging Pte. Ltd., Singapore has been formed to serve the flexible packaging supply needs of Southeast Asia and China. The new entity will be serving local firms as well as multinational companies requiring an Asian supply source.

Alliantz is a joint venture between Rollprint Packaging Products, Inc., Addison, IL and Acme Packaging Co. (Pte) Ltd., Singapore.

Dhuanne Dodrill, president of Rollprint, has been named Alliantz's chairman of the board. Former Acme principals, Eddy Chan, Ph.D. and Ebing Chia, are the managing director/chief executive officer and chief operating officer, respectively. Craig Livingston, Rollprint's vice president of business development also has been appointed to the board, along with Chan and Chia.

"The Alliantz joint venture will enable Rollprint to take its global supply abilities to the next level," explains Dodrill. "It allows us to manufacture our technologically-advanced flexible packaging structures locally for companies with facilities in Southeast Asia."

"Acme Packaging has been supplying the demanding sterile medical device industry for more than 25 years. By merging Acme into Alliantz, we will be able to expand our offering of high-quality flexible packaging materials to our customers and help ensure their success in the marketplace." Chan explains.
The new company will be headquartered in Singapore, in a facility that is in the process of being expanded. The current ISO 9000 certified plant, with Class 100K clean room manufacturing, is being increased by more than 50 percent to allow the expansion of manufacturing capabilities. A new state-of-the-art, three-layer, blown film extrusion line, manufactured by Brampton Engineering, Inc is being installed. The new line is expected to be operational later this year.

"Alliantz Flexible Packaging will allow us to produce Rollprint's proprietary formable bottom webs and peelable structures in Southeast Asia. We will also be transferring technology so that Alliantz can supply Rollprint's high-barrier ClearFoil® materials along with our foil-based products and chemically resistant structures," Dodrill notes.
With the joint venture structure now in place, there will also be an increased focus on joint-development programs between Alliantz and Rollprint.

"We have worked together quite effectively on developing ClearForm®, a very high-quality, extremely cost-effective thermoformable bottom web. Sharing technology to benefit both the Asian and the U.S. markets is something we will be doing more of in the future," Chan says.

Alliantz will be concentrating on applications in the sterile medical disposable, pharmaceutical, neutraceutical, specialty foods and industrial (fragrances, chemicals, compounds, etc.) areas.

As the former owners of Acme Packaging, one of the leading Southeast Asian manufacturers of state-of-the-art flexible packaging for medical packaging applications, Chan and Chia bring a solid technology and market knowledge base to the partnership. "We have always operated under the hallmarks of quality, reliability and value to the customer," Chan says. "We look forward to taking our business to the next level via the Alliantz joint venture by providing better value proposition to our customers-present and future."
