"Future Tense Marketing" Is Theme Of AEM Conference

Annual marketing event is association's first "green" seminar

Helping equipment marketers most effectively reach buyers of the future is the goal of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) 2008 marketing seminar. The event will be held May 18-20, 2008 at the Hilton Portland and Executive Tower in Portland, Oregon.

With the theme of "Future Tense Marketing," the AEM May seminar will focus on marketing to cultures, to generations and to the global community.

Keynote speakers include Thomas Winninger, author of the best selling book "Market Quake 2020" and founder of the Visionscope think tank; Melissa Abbott, senior trend spotter of the Hartman Group/Tinderbox research consultancy; and John Coe, president of the Sales & Marketing Institute.

Panel discussions, roundtable sessions and case studies will be featured, as well as a team building experience using interactive "future tense" communications on the streets of Portland.

A special segment with Sue Hall, CEO of the Climate Neutral Business Network, will examine how to incorporate "green" initiatives into overall business and marketing goals.

This will be AEM's first "green" seminar, in keeping with the environmentally conscious reputation of the seminar city and host hotel.

Portland boasts more LEED-certified buildings and a higher percentage of residents who recycle waste (54 percent) than any other city in America. Portland also provides free mass transit in the downtown area. The Hilton Portland has earned a "Green Seal" designation, a detailed annual certification process by the Washington, DC-based non-profit Green Seal group.

Any AEM handouts will be on recycled paper, any unused seminar-purchased food will be sent to a shelter or be composted, and the association will continue its practice of no bottled water at seminars. All seminar functions are planned within walking distance of the hotel or are public transit accessible.

AEM's annual marketing conferences are developed by equipment marketers specifically to meet the needs of industry marketing professionals, both seasoned and novice. AEM education programs offer CEUs - Continuing Education Unit credits. Complete seminar information and registration details are posted online in the "education" section of the AEM website - www.aem.org.
