ACPA Publishes Guide For Concrete Pavement Preservation, Repairs



Skokie, Illinois (April 9, 2007) - The American Concrete Pavement Association has published a field reference manual to guide and assist contractors, consultants, and agency personnel with concrete pavement preservation and repairs.

The publication, "Concrete Pavement Field Reference: Preservation and Repair," addresses issues related to the most common repair and preservation techniques for concrete pavements. This field manual aims to educate practitioners on the 'key' factors involved in extending the service life of concrete pavements.

The pocket-sized guide covers fundamental preparation techniques, materials, finishing, and possible troubleshooting processes for the most common procedures, including:
o Joint and crack sealing;
o Dowel bar retrofit;
o Cross-stitching;
o Full-depth repair;
o Partial-depth repair; and
o Diamond grinding.

This spiral-bound, 90-page resource includes checklists, diagrams, and figures to assist the reader in making decisions. The field repair guide also includes, at the outset, a series of checklists that may be used as quick reference points for each procedure. These checklists also may be downloaded from ACPA's website.
