ABB Delivers 25,000th High Voltage Type PM Dead Tank Breaker

ABB global dead tank breaker operations proudly announces the 25,000th shipment of its Type PM Dead Tank Breaker at a special Finepoint "Factory Day" event in Pennsylvania

Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania - ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, today announced the official 25,000th shipment and delivery of its industry-leading, high-voltage type PM dead tank circuit breaker platform design. This symbolic 25,000 milestone represents by far the largest number of breakers shipped in the power industry.

The announcement of ABB's 25,000th Type PM breaker shipment was made at a ceremony in Mount Pleasant in conjunction with the 17th annual Finepoint Circuit Breaker Test & Maintenance Training Conference (www.circuitbreakerconference.com) held this year in Pittsburgh. Over 350 people were on hand to witness this historical event.

ABB produces these breakers at its world-class, state-of-the-art high-voltage breaker facility in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, southeast of Pittsburgh. Opened in 2003 and serving as the North American headquarters for high-voltage power technology products, Mount Pleasant has a dedicated team of highly-trained engineering and manufacturing personnel to build each PM breaker to suit customers' needs.

"We are pleased and honored to announce the 25,000th type PM circuit breaker today as part of the Finepoint Factory Day event," said Adam Heiligenstein, Vice President and General Manager for ABB's Mount Pleasant operation. "ABB's technology leadership has allowed power generators and utilities to expand their systems quickly to accommodate the increasing demand for reliable power. We have introduced innovative technologies into our high voltage products and facilities that provide our users with greater reliability, efficiency and embedded intelligence for today's power grid."

The PM dead tank breaker, produced by ABB since 1987 with a large installed customer base and proven track record, offers industry-leading performance and reliability for the power grid. ABB offers the industry's broadest portfolio from 34 to 800 kilovolts and interrupting currents up to 90,000 amps.
