SCHAUMBURG, IL - AAMA 304-07, a technical specification covering ABS profiles, has been revised and released by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA). According to John Lewis, AAMA Technical Director, the revamped 9-page document, first published in 1998 and titled Voluntary Specification for Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) Exterior Profiles Capped with ASA or ASA/PVC Blends, includes several updates.

"In addition to various editorial changes, the most significant update was the creation of a new table summarizing requirements of the standard, which includes merged data from previous Section 4.0 (Minimum Compound Property Requirements) and Section 5.0 (Impact Retention and Weathering Requirements)," according to Lewis.

Other changes include the addition of sections covering terminology and units of measure, and the deletion of the requirement of testing to ASTM E 1753, as this lead requirement criteria is already covered in the AAMA 109 Procedural Guide. Performance requirements from this guide were also added and changes were also made to the section on "Referenced Documents" and the definition of weatherability.

The Voluntary Specification for Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) Exterior Profiles Capped with ASA or ASA/PVC Blends is available through download, CD or paper copy at a cost of $16.00 for non-members and $8.00 for members.
