A "Must See" at the 2006 IMTS Show in Chicago

In July, 2006 TruLine Tool America's, a division of Johnson Carbide Products, Inc. undertook a licensing agreement with H.A.M. Precision in Ulm, Germany for them to represent the new, and highly successful, TruLine Tool® family of composite boring tools in thirteen European countries including; Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Slovakia Republic, Poland, Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland.

This will be the first time that the TruLine Tool® family of composite boring tool products will be on display, and that will take place in the H.A.M. Precision Booth No. 2609.

In August 2005 TruLine Tool®, based in Saginaw, Michigan was granted a U.S. patent on the use of composite materials to construct boring and reaming tools that are very light in weight, have very high stiffness characteristics and significantly reduce vibration and cutting tool "chatter". Combined with polycrystalline diamond (PCD) guide pads and long length-to-diameter ratios for all types of machine spindles, these composite tools are now offering users boring tools that have:

o 1/8th the weight of carbide body tools

o 8 times the dynamic stiffness of carbide

o Better surface finish

o Chatter-free machining up to 30,000 rpm

o 10 times the dampening of carbide

o Up to 3 times the tool life of comparable steel tools

o Reduced spindle and magazine loads

o Up to 40% increased speeds/feeds

o Large-diameter machining on BT40 and CAT40 spindles

o Improved workpiece tolerance and roundness

Initial successful applications have included finish camshaft boring of automotive cylinder heads, and the crank and wrist pin bores of connecting rods for the major North American and Asian transplant OEMs as well as a number of off-highway equipment manufacturers.

Since 1953, Johnson Carbide Products, Inc., has been designing and developing superior quality, high-precision solid micro-grain carbide cutting tool products including; drills, end mills, reamers, saws, slitting saws, routers countersinks and burrs.

H.A.M. Precision was established in 1969 and is one of Europe's leading designers and builders of solid carbide standard, special and polycrystalline diamond tools, as well as tooling with indexable inserts and brazed carbide tools. H.A.M. employs 650 people worldwide.
