9th Annual HR Technology Conference® & Expo Attracts HR Executives Seeking Technology-driven Business Gains

Human Resource Executive® Magazine's 'World's Best Conference on HR Technology' Coming to Chicago, October 4-6

HORSHAM, Pa., July 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Hailed as the "world's best conference on HR technology" by PeopleSoft founder David Duffield, Human Resource Executive magazine's 9th Annual HR Technology Conference is designed to help senior HR executives and practitioners seize the business benefits from technology and ultimately improve their organizations' bottom line. This year's conference will be held October 4-6 at Chicago's Navy Pier.

"This conference is unique because it's created by experts and delivered by senior HR executives with a focus on business strategy," said conference co-chair and the magazine's technology columnist Bill Kutik. "This year, we have once again gathered the best and brightest experts to help attendees learn what they need to know about the latest advances in technology and how to leverage them to outperform the competition and help their own organizations make more money."

"We are different from other commercial trade shows in that we don't sell speaking slots to vendors," said conference chairman and the magazine's founding editor and publisher David Shadovitz. "We offer objective sessions and case study breakouts led by highly respected industry executives with exceptional insights into HR. This format brings significant value to our attendees, and ultimately their companies, which is why our attendance has been growing by double-digit percentage rates for years."

Kicking off the conference, on the heels of his latest book from Harvard Business School Press, is Jeffrey Pfeffer, one of the HR community's smartest and most engaging academics. He will discuss "Making Evidence-Based Management Work for You," debunking the popular practice of making decisions based on so- called "best practices."

In addition, the conference will host the Second Annual Shootout between the two titans of the HR technology industry: Oracle and SAP. The 75-minute Shootout provides attendees with their only opportunity to view competitive products side-by-side and then vote for their favorite. The two will tackle three critical HR problems and show live software demonstrations of how their systems can solve them.

As part of the conference's three-year emphasis on Performance Management, this year will feature the "Industry's First Integrated Performance & Learning Management Shootout," scheduled between Plateau, Saba and other leading vendors competitively demonstrating their products based on identical scripted scenarios.

Naomi Lee Bloom, managing partner of Bloom & Wallace and HR's leading technology and functional guru, will close the conference with her keynote, "It's the Technology, Stupid!" In a rare look "under the technology hood," she will take attendees beyond what vendors want them to see and discuss what HR practitioners should really be looking for when they evaluate HR software and delivery options.

"I've attended the last five conferences, and they've gotten better every year," said Stan Surrette, executive vice president, HR of ManTech International. "Sharing the latest innovations with my organization has made the conference very rewarding."

The HR Technology Conference is organized in five tracks: Strategic View; Performance & Compensation Management; HRMS, Portals and Self Service; Recruiting; and Outsourcing. Strategic View and Outsourcing feature single experts in their fields. The other three tracks have problem/solution case studies by senior HR executives from such industry leaders as 20th Century Fox, Amerada Hess, Elizabeth Arden, Freddie Mac, OfficeMax, Time Warner, TiVo and Yahoo!. Forty-four of the 55 presenters hold vice president or above titles, including 21 chief executive officers.

Breakouts also include software surveys in four areas, special sessions for mid-market-sized companies, hot new technologies for HR and a comprehensive look at the HR Business Process Outsourcing industry from the buyers' point of view.

Human Resource Executive magazine will present its 18th Annual Top HR Products and Top Training Products awards during the conference, recognizing excellence and innovation in the HR vendor community. The winners are chosen from roughly 75 entries after thorough briefings and demonstrations with the magazine's editors.

The exhibit floor will feature more than 200 vendors in all categories, with an estimated 40 announcing and showing new products for the very first time.
