GEORGETOWN, Ky., (Aug. 27, 2009) - Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., Inc. (THMU), Industrial Concepts Incorporated (ICI) and AutoGuide gathered recently for an open house to present new concepts in Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) technologies. Open to the public, the event highlighted available AGV options and educated consumers on the advantages of the fully automated industrial equipment.
The open house offered various demonstrations, including a brief presentation on how businesses can integrate low-cost AGV systems into their operations. A floor demonstration showcased the maneuvering and towing capabilities of Toyota's AGV products and AutoGuide's AGVs, along with the debut of ICI's PC-based AGV traffic control software Automated Vehicle Intersection Navigational Utility (AVINU). The systems provided the audience with an up-close look at the power and simplicity of these lower-cost AGV systems. A robot using "RecogniSense" vision guidance from Comau also demonstrated how robots use vision-guided technology to pick and set from AGVs without precision locating of the AGV.
"This event provided an ideal setting for Toyota and other leading companies, ICI and AutoGuide, to demonstrate the latest AGV solutions and technology," said Tim Meyer, Toyota AGV product manager. "AGVs are becoming increasingly popular as a way for companies to reduce operating costs and increase efficiency by helping to automate a warehouse or manufacturing facility."
