10th AMI Conference Once More Looking Forward to International Response

It has already become a tradition: the Wood Plastic Compo-sites Conference organized by AMI, Bristol, UK is being held again in Vienna, and battenfeld-cincinnati is supporting this international event as its headline sponsor, as in previous years. From 3 to 5 November, the experts from some 30 countries will meet to discuss the latest developments, markets and potentials of this interesting material catego-ry. In addition to expert presentations, visitors can look forward to seeing a live machine demonstration at batten-feld-cincinnati’s technical lab.

Although the interest in wood-plastic composites, which are suitable for many indoor and outdoor applications due to their favorable attributes, continues unabated, only a fraction of their potential is realized. The international markets are subject to constant change: the European market, for instance, is currently stagnating, while the American market is growing again at a rate of 5%, and Asia is showing the highest growth rates. As for the products, they are also subject to constant change. The trend towards hollow and solid profiles for the main product line of outdoor decking continues; interest in solid foamed profiles is on the increase with the object of weight reduction, and WPC boards are more and more in demand due to their ability to replace MDF panels in furniture and outdoor applications.

All of these trends and other key issues currently facing the participants in the WPC industry, such as material procurement and optimal marketing, will be dealt with at the AMI Conference. In 15 expert presentations, the specialists from Europe, China, Japan and the USA will cover these basic topics, which will subsequently be open for discussion.

The live demonstration of a production line at battenfeld-cincinnati’s technical lab will also serve as a platform to exchange information. An exhibition arranged by partner companies along the entire WPC value chain and a special presentation organized by two well-known decking manufacturers will round off the demonstration. With the line on display, the production of a WPC floorboard will be demonstrated using a fiberEX93 with an output of up to 400 kg/h. As a pioneer in the area of WPC processing, battenfeld-cincinnati has accumulated an enormous store of knowledge in machine and processing technology. The extrusion concepts are continuously further optimized and adjusted to changing requirements. The latest new developments include the fiberEX93, which is extremely cost-efficient in operation and able to process a great variety of different formulations with just one plasticizing unit, as well as the fiberSTREAM, a complete downstream unit specially designed for processing WPC, and a cork ex-trusion line, which has been sold for the very first time.
