The Asia Pacific RFID market is driven by businesses and Governments alike, the Chinese government has introduced several projects to push up the development of RFID in China. Chinese government is also planning to improve the current logistics infrastructure so as to keep pace with the growth in manufacturing. China is expected to use more than 5 billion tags annually in supplies such as Wal-Mart and other US and European retailers. China is also a large consumer market for RFID products including China National ID project and the Beijing 2008 Olympics which will use RFID technology for logistics and security applications.

Singapore has also shown a strong support for RFID. The Singapore Government expanded the frequency bands for radio-frequency identification applications to ensure that inventory-tracking systems developed locally will interoperate with those in Europe and the U.S. The steps to expand the frequency bands were taken by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, a statutory board of the Singapore government that operates under the Ministry of Information, Communications, and The Arts.
