Cimetrix Sets 'The Standard' with New Interface A Industry Resource

Publication Seeks to 'Inform First,' Bringing Industry Greater Understanding of Issues and Challenges of New Connectivity Standards

SALT LAKE CITY, March 30 / -- Cimetrix, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: CMXX) , a leading provider of software products and solutions for the global semiconductor and electronics industries, today announced the publication of its inaugural issue of 'The Standard,' believed to be the first newsletter related to Interface A, the standards introduced in November 2005 by the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Institute (SEMI). The Standard provides global information and technical news and resources concerning Interface A and its implementation.

Interface A facilitates communication between data-gathering software and wafer fab equipment, offering IC and chip manufacturers access to more comprehensive and useful data for applications such as equipment diagnostics and advanced process control. The Standard provides news on Interface A and its roll-out, and addresses key industry issues via articles and commentary, drawing on the expertise of Cimetrix specialists and guest industry luminaries, and partners including International Sematech and Alan Weber & Associates. The first issue provides an introduction to Interface A and covers a variety of topics including data acquisition methods, SECS/GEM versus Interface A, and implementation issues. Two additional issues are planned in 2006.

Commenting on the decision to produce The Standard, executive vice president of Cimetrix, Dave Faulkner, said: "SEMI's Interface A standards have been hailed by industry experts as key to decreasing operational costs, increasing informational flow rates, and enabling technological advances in the semiconductor manufacturing industry. Cimetrix has led the way in developing connectivity solutions and standards for the semiconductor industry at the equipment and fab levels. As the roll-out of Interface A gathers momentum and more companies in the semiconductor manufacturing and equipment market adopt it or are demanding Interface A compliance on 300mm tools, we have identified the need for a centralized resource that discusses the standard and its impact, and promotes the exchange of information on this fundamental shift in technology in the industry. We believe that The Standard provides such a resource. It has been positively received by industry experts, who also will contribute fascinating insights into the intricacies of Interface A."

One of The Standard's guest contributors, Alan Weber of Alan Weber & Associates, echoed Mr. Faulkner's comments: "No doubt the Interface A standards are beginning to have a positive impact on the semiconductor manufacturing process and are helping to refine and improve the quality and flow of information from fab equipment. The Standard newsletter educates and promotes discussion of the new standards, and I believe positions Cimetrix as leading the way in the promotion of Interface A adoption."
