Thermoformer reaches speeds of 190 cycles/min at trim press.

Press Release Summary:

Using servo technology for both forming and trimming processes, Model SX-28S can perform up to 50 forming cycles/min. Servo driven linear actuators replace hydraulic cylinders in form station for optimized speed and precision, while eliminating need for hydraulic power unit. Other features include power canopy, optimized machine rigidity, and movable oven that permits mold lengths of up to 48 in., allowing enough forming area to utilize speed of form station and trim station.

Original Press Release:

Commodore SX-28S Thermoformer Reaches Speeds of 190 CPM

Bloomfield NY – Commodore has updated its SX-28S thermoformer and trim press to reach speeds of 190 cycles per minute (CPM) at the trim press. This is the efficient in high variety, low to mid-range volume applications.

The SX-28S form station has also been updated to perform up to 50 forming cycles per minute. Decreases in cycle time have been made with the new generation SX-28S thermoformer through the use of servo technology for both the forming and trimming processes. Servo driven linear actuators replace hydraulic cylinders in the form station for an increase in speed and precision, while eliminating the need for a hydraulic power unit. Optimized oven length, introduction of a power canopy, added vacuum performance, and enhancements in machine rigidity have all contributed to overall increased performance.

Improvements in production while maintaining a small footprint will allow fast production runs with quick changeovers, offering a new level of versatility. Replacing the hydraulics with servo technology brings the benefit of lower maintenance intervals and a quieter machine. A movable oven permits mold lengths of up to 48" allowing enough forming area to utilize the speed of the form station and trim station.
