Tensile Strength Pull Tester is fully portable.

Press Release Summary:

MPT-100 Crimp Pull Test instrument certifies quality of crimping coax connectors and center pins to various lengths of coax cable. Tool makes ratchet-action destructive pull type force measurements to crimp-on coax connectors terminated cable samples, providing up to 200 lb force. Digital readout displays fail force point in 1/2 in. high digits. System consists of digital meter, tensile stress tester, and power supply. Accuracy is ±0.5% of reading.

Original Press Release:

Cost Effective Digital, Portable Tensile Pull Strength Ratchet-Action Meter Test Coax Connectors & Center Contact Retention When It's Mission Critical

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS ILLINOIS, November 1, 2002: MidTel Technologies, Inc. is introducing the first portable tensile strength pull tester used to certify the quality of crimping coax connectors and center pins to short and long lengths of coax cable. The MidTel MPT-100 Crimp Pull Test instrument is a portable tool for making ratchet-action destructive pull type force measurements to crimp-on coax connectors terminated cable samples, providing up to 200 pounds force. The digital readout displays the exact fail force point in 1/2 inch high digits. Providing adequate crimp force on installed connectors guards against failures when excessive force is applied to cable bundles when stressed during maintenance/repair and seismic events. The tester is ideal for use at the installation site, on the manufacturing floor or in the test lab. The system consists of a lightweight digital meter, ratchet-action tensile stress tester and power supply, packaged in a rugged protective case.

The tester operates on AC or on the built-in rechargeable battery power. The MPT-100 confirms installed connector compliance with TL9000 and industry pull force standards. Tests are accurate and N.I.S.T. traceable. Quality audit testing of both connector and center pin crimp is provided. When the MPT-100 test indicates connector retention failure below established pull force specifications, it will caution the installer that an off-standard condition may exist with either the connector, the cable, installation tools, or that the proper connector installation procedure had not been followed. The cause of the failure can then be determined and corrected prior to beginning the installation project.

Capacity of the retention tester is 200 LBF via ratchet-action. Accuracy is ± 0.5% of reading plus least significant digit. Resolution is 0.1 LBF. Display Type is LCD with .56" high digits. Electrical is 115 VAC, 50/60 Hz with supplied AC power adapter or 12 VDC internal NIMH rechargeable battery, 14-hour duty. Operating Temperature 50°F to 100°F. Dimensions is 2"Hx9.5"Wx6.25"D. Weight is 2.5 pounds. There is an internal calibration test verification. Factory calibration is recommended at least annually. N.I.S.T. traceable.

The easy to use, almost effortless ratchet-action handled stress unit accepts both telecom Type 734 and 735 coaxial cable. Models are available to accommodate other cable sizes and connector types.

Typical pricing for the standard MidTel model MPT-100 is $2,250.00 complete. Quantity pricing available. The MPT-100 is obtainable directly from MidTel Technologies, Inc.
