Window Book Helps Mailers Meet New Priority Mail Open and Distribute Requirements

Cambridge, MA, May 29, 2008

Window Book announces software to enable mailers to comply with new Postal Service changes to Priority Mail Open and Distribute service.

The USPS® Priority Mail Open and Distribute Service allows you to expedite mailings to destination delivery units and postal facilities. You prepare the mailings according to standards for the enclosed class of mail, place the mailpieces in containers (sack, tray, tub), and present them at a postal acceptance unit for faster delivery service.

Starting July 1, 2008, mailers will be required to use service type code 55 printed with GS1-128 barcode and print "USPS Scan On Arrival" on Open and Distribute labels. Also, all new and current customers using Open and Distribute service will be required to re-certify. These new mandates are designed to give postal customers more value-added service and help the Postal Service monitor and communicate the delivery status of containers to mailers.

Postal Package Partner and DAT-MAIL enable mailers implement these new requirements for Priority Mail Open and Distribute service.

Postal Package Partner's Open and Distribute module works hand in hand with DAT-MAIL to provide mailers with superior Priority Mail Open and Distribute system. Mailers will be able to use DAT-MAIL to analyze cost/savings, list the mail that can be sent faster and cheaper with Priority Mail Open and Distribute (formerly know as Priority Mail Drop Ship) and print valuable container breakout reports which can be used for production purposes. DAT-MAIL also has a Freight Planning feature allowing mailers a simple way to take their origin containers and mail them to entry units.

After analyzing your costsavings and freight planning, you can then use Postal Package Partner to import the data and print Open and Distribute labels with the new service barcode as required. You will be able to not only generate labels, but also manifest, track items, and keep a database of all drop shipments.

"Priority Mail Open and Distribute will allow mailers to send their bulk mailings faster and in many cases for less postage. In fact, we offer Free Savings Analysis to mailers so they can find out for themselves how much they can save using Open and Distribute," said Jeffery Peoples, CEO of Window Book.
