Casgle Brings 'Broadcatching' to Life

First software program to bring internet content directly to entertainment devices such as Portable Media Players, Network-Attached Storage or Digital Media Adapters

Casgle Broadcatcher(TM) Software Debuts

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 24 /-- Today Casgle LLC., a Silicon Valley startup, launches its Casgle Broadcatcher(TM) software. Broadcatcher(TM) functions like a DVR for Internet content. The content can be audio, video or anything else that can be sent over the Web. After a simple account setup, whatever Internet content the user would like to receive is automatically and autonomously downloaded to the place the user wants the files to reside, whether it is a Portable Media Player (PMP), Network-Attached Storage (NAS) or Digital Media Adapter (DMA).

Only Broadcatcher(TM) does this autonomously, without connecting to your computer. Furthermore, and unlike any other content aggregators, only Casgle validates the programming to guard against corrupted, misidentified or unsupported files.

Casgle Broadcatcher(TM), breakthrough new content management and delivery software, brings the Internet content simply and directly to your home, where it can be enjoyed on your chosen media device. From the hundreds of thousands of audio and video programs available on the Internet worldwide, Casgle Broadcatcher(TM) provides a list of channels of internet-only programming which can be surfed as easily as TV channels are surfed today. Broadcatcher(TM) also manages how much bandwidth and storage capacity is used, how many programs are kept and for how long until they are deleted. "Our goal is to make the content that's coming on the Internet available to anyone, anywhere, anytime," says Casgle CEO Stewart Wu, "We want to make 'broadcatching' a reality."

Long before the technology for it existed, the term 'broadcatching' was coined to describe the scenario where a software agent would be able to collect, or aggregate, content from the internet and deliver it to the end user for consumption. Today there are many aggregator programs that can bring content together in one form or another, but the consumer is still several steps away from being able to enjoy it. "It's the difference between having a personal shopper stock your pantry, versus having a personal chef serve you dinner," says Mark Schroeder, Casgle Business Development Director.

Casgle is partnering with NAS manufacturers because the addition of the Broadcatcher(TM) software transforms the static storage devices into active entertainment sources. "Casgle Broadcatcher(TM) is a perfect example of the type of innovative, 24/7 application we want to foster for our always-on personal server platform," said Jae Yang, VP of Technology for Quad Micro Works. "We're thrilled that our Square One Personal Server is the first network storage product to feature the Casgle service."

Quad Micro Works and Casgle are teaming up with StorLink Semiconductor as their technology partner and IC supplier. Casgle is also currently beta testing a base station for PMP's using the same Broadcatcher(TM) technology to automatically download audio & video files directly onto a PMP without it needing to be connected to a computer.
