ROBO-8913VG2AR - Advanced Computing Slot Board with Intel® Q35 Express Chipset Handles Huge Data Streaming from Storage and PCI Express Interfaces

Portwell Inc., a world-leading innovator in the Industrial PC ( IPC) market and a member of the Intel® Communication Alliance , today announced her latest PICMG 1.3 (SHB Express) Single Host Board (SHB) the ROBO-8913VG2AR based on the Intel® 82Q35 Graphics Media Controller Hub, the Intel® I/O Controller Hub 9 (ICH9) and the Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo processor.

Portwell is a development leader for SHBs utilizing Intel® architecture and offers a variety of solutions for PICMG 1.3 products. There are Single Host Board (SHB) ROBO-8920VG2 based on Intel® E7520 chipset and Single Host Board (SHB) ROBO-8912VG2AR based on Intel® Q965 Express chipset. A series of backplanes to fit PICMG 1.3 SHB generate PCI Express x 16, x8, x4, x1 expansion interface.

The evolution of PCI Express benefits applications such as image processing, chemistry analysis, flight simulation with faster processor. The new PICMG 1.3 architecture allows system to have PCI Express and PCI expansion, therefore, fine and high quality display can be support with PCI Express x16 graphics adapter and storage can be extended to PCI Express x4 RAID card. Plus some PCI I/O cards, the system are about two times or even more powerful than traditional PICMG 1.0 that only support PCI/ISA expansion. eSATA is one of the special functions that Intel® I/O Controller Hub 9-DO (ICH9-DO) supports. Imagine the time consumption when you download or upload data to computer via USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 interface. Simply consider eSATA as an alternative solution to an external interface that is five times faster than USB 2.0 (300MB/s versus 480M bps). Nowadays, people not only have USB flash disc but also mobile rack with 2.5" hard drive in it for large data exchange. Once the hard drive natively supports eSATA then you will not waste your precious time on waiting. Beyond storage device, many devices with USB interface no longer be limited by the interconnection bottleneck.
