The new FLEX-5 Rivet Nut Tool Series features 5,000 pounds (22kN) of pulling force and 7mm (0.276 in.) of available stroke. The tool is capable of installing rivet nuts from M3 to M10 and 6-32 to 3/8-24 & rivet nut studs from M5 to M8 and 10-24 to 5/16-24. The tool is based on an innovative modular design that offers the flexibility of both pull to pressure and pull to stroke installation methods allowing the proper method to be used based on the application requirements.
The FLEX-5P utilizes a Pull to Pressure method of installation. This method allows the same insert type to be installed into varying material thicknesses (within the Grip Range of the part) without any adjustment to the tool. The FLEX-5S utilizes a Pull to Stroke method of installation. This method allows the insert to be installed to the same distance each time. This is helpful when installing into soft materials (prevents crushing of the base material) or when a specific Installed Length is required. Both tools can be converted into the other by using the Sherex tool conversion kit.
The SFS FLEX-5 has the ability to be upgraded from the original base tool to different levels of process monitoring that will provide feedback to the operator ensuring each rivet nut is set properly. The original base tool also will offer upgrades such as conversion to an in-line tool and conversion to a split tool with a remote booster.
The SFS FLEX-5 has an all aluminum body which will give it added strength and durability relative to plastic tools in the market. It features a single stage trigger and Socket Head Cap Screw Mandrel.
