Modbus System promotes access to multiple I/O points.

Press Release Summary:

FGRIO Modbus multipoint network enables direct analog and digital wireless connections to all FGRIO functions. Master radio supports up to 246 slave radios, and each slave supports 2 analog inputs, 2 digital inputs, and 2 digital outputs on one network. Along with 20-bit analog conversion, system features pulse-counting digital inputs that ensure detection of pulses smaller than 1 msec. Active Modbus data port lets users extend networks by adding external devices.

FreeWave Delivers New FGRIO Modbus System with Simplified Network Design

Multipoint network enables more access to I/O points than before

BOULDER, Colo., April 17 / -- FreeWave Technologies, a leading designer and manufacturer of spread spectrum radios, today announced the release of its newest communications protocol, the FGRIO Modbus system.

The FreeWave FGRIO Modbus multipoint network enables direct analog and digital wireless connections to all FGRIO functions. The radio provides great cost savings for wire replacement and reliable data communications. FGRIO Modbus master radios supports up to 246 slave radios. Each slave supports two analog inputs, two digital inputs and two digital outputs on a single network. The system's 20-bit analog conversion ensures high accuracy between each slave radio's analog inputs and its repeater capability efficiently evades link obstructions between radios.

FGRIO Modbus features pulse-counting digital inputs that assure detection of pulses smaller than one msec, allowing wireless connection of 1kHz turbine meters. Additionally, the active Modbus data port allows users to extend their networks by adding external devices.

"With the FGRIO Modbus system, we offer our Modbus to access more I/O points on a network," said Colin Lippincott, vice president sales and marketing. "By combining a simplified network design with greater error detection, FGRIO Modbus provides for even more savings on wire replacement than in any other wireless communications network."
