Miniature TAC Connectors for Soldier-Worn and Radio Systems
Press release date: July 17, 2012
TAC Connectors are designed and manufactured to the exacting specifications of MIL-DTL-55116 requirements at half the size of the standard connectors. Both plug and receptacle are 50% smaller than the standard M55116 connectors (M55116/4 and M55116/10, as a comparison). The connectors come in 6, 7, and 10-pin configurations. Plugs, or cable connectors, typically have rigid contacts and jacks, or panel-mount connectors have spring-loaded contacts. Cable connectors are either manufactured with cable overmold features or come with a wire strain relief. As an added feature, the contact types can be reversed for the plugs and jacks to allow another connector option when using more than one TAC Connector on a system.
Molded-in spring-loaded contacts provide self-cleaning feature and eliminate issues with pin/socket open contacts. They are waterproof both mated and un-mated. The contacts exceed the MIL-DTL-55116 current requirement of 0.5 amperes. PC tail contacts are available for panel-mount connectors.
Amphenol NEXUS Technologies TAC Connectors are the ideal choice to reduce size and weight and still maintain many of the same performance benefits wherever a M55116 connector is needed on a newly designed system.
