Helwig's Digiscale Checks Brush Holder Spring Force
Press release date: July 27, 2006
Handheld Digital Scale Helps Optimize Carbon Brush Life
Milwaukee, WI (July 27, 2006) Helwig Carbon Products, Inc. is pleased to introduce its new Digiscale, a handheld digital scale that provides quick, accurate readings for brush holder spring force. The Digiscale helps detect improper spring force before excessive brush or commutator wear causes costly downtime.
"The Digiscale saves companies thousands of dollars by protecting against improper spring force, which decreases brush life," states Helwig's President, Jay Koenitzer. "It is easy to use and lets you know in a few minutes if you need to adjust the spring pressure."
The Digiscale comes with a strap and roller, either of which can be attached to the spring assembly. Once attached, the scale is pulled taut by the comfort-grip handle. The measured force is immediately displayed in easy-to-read 1/2 inch LCD numerals. Helwig's battery-operated Digiscale accurately reads force measurements of both spiral torsion springs and constant force springs up to 10 lbs. (± 2 oz.). Convenient automatic zeroing ensures measurement of only the spring force, not the weight of the strap or roller, so that every reading is precise.
