Cabinet NG Unveils Key Information Lifecycle Management Functionality

CNG 5.4 integrates compliance and retention polices enabling SMBs and SMEs to easily manage documents throughout their lifecycle

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., November 1, 2005 - Cabinet NG, Inc., the industry's solution to the "paper cuts profit" problem in small-to-medium sized businesses and enterprises (SMB's/SME's), today announced that its document management solution includes an extended set of integrated features providing key information lifecycle management (ILM) capabilities. CNG-5.4 now enables users to more easily address compliance concerns and enforce document retention policies, essential capabilities that until now could only be found in costly enterprise-class software solutions.

According to Cabinet NG customer, Kimberly Branch, Regional Vice President at AIG Financial Advisors, "CNG 5.4's new features further assists our financial advisors with SEC and NASD compliance. AIG Financial Advisors offers Cabinet NG to our financial advisors because it provides the scalability needed to accommodate all sizes of a financial advisor's business."

In today's business environment, compliance is no longer optional for firms of any size. Government and industry regulations enforcing access and archiving policies are increasingly becoming more complex and burdensome for all organizations. This has created the need for an easy-to-use, proactive approach to manage documents throughout their lifecycle in full compliance with ever-changing and increasingly burdensome policies and regulations.

In response to this challenge, CNG 5.4 now integrates key compliance features, including:

-- Retention Classes - Retention classes are defined to designate a document expiration period. Document expiration times can be set from 1 day to months and years. The expiration date is automatically calculated based on when the document was created. A document report listing can be generated to indicate which documents have satisfied the expiration criteria set by the retention class.

-- Permanent Documents - Once a document has been assigned a permanent document class, it can no longer be deleted or edited by anyone including the administrator. The document is set to permanent view only.

-- Cabinet Copy - Cabinet-to-cabinet coping now supports an expanded variety of drives including: CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, and DVD-RW. This also allows the client to read the cabinet information directly from the CD/DVD device in view mode.

-- Version Control - Version control can now be designated as an option. With version control enabled, each time a document is edited the user now has the option to save a new version of the document.

"Businesses have always been required by authorities to keep records. But the twin engines of unrelenting information growth and regulatory compliance have exacerbated the need for effective and easy-to-use solutions for managing documents over their lifecycle," said Andrew Bailey, president and CEO of Cabinet NG. "Cabinet NG's software helps firms manage their information by giving businesses of all sizes the key capabilities required for compliance as well as the ability to strategically manage and secure electronic documents for effective information lifecycle management."
