Digital POL DC/DC Converters include 20 and 25 A models.

Press Release Summary:

Respectively capable of delivering 20 A/66 W and 25 A/82.5 W output, digitally controlled OKDx-T/20-W12 and OKDx-T/25-W12 series measure 1.01 x 0.543 x 0.323 in. and come in through-hole, single-in-line, and SMT packages. Digital power solutions, with multiple integrated power management functions, accept 4.5–14 V input and offer 0.6–3.3 V output with typ efficiency of 97.1% at 5 Vin, 3.3Vout, and 50% load. Configuration and monitoring is possible via PMBus communication protocol.

Original Press Release:

Murata Releases 20A and 25A Models of Its OKD Series of Digital POL DC/DC Converters

Hoofddorp, Netherlands: Murata Power Solutions’ OKDx-T/20-W12 and OKDx-T/25-W12 series point of Load (PoL) DC/DC converters offer high power density, high efficiency, PMBus compatible digital power solution for space constrained embedded applications such as powering CPUs, datacom/telecom systems, distributed bus architectures (DBA), programmable logic, and mixed voltage systems in the networking, computing/servers, telecom, and industrial market sectors.

Expanding its Okami™ range of non-isolated PoL DC/DC converters, Murata’s digitally controlled OKDx-T/20-W12 and OKDx-T/25-W12 are capable of delivering 20A/66W and 25A/82.5W output respectively, yet these high power-density modules measure just 25.65 x 13.8 x 8.2 mm (1.01 x 0.543 x 0.323 in). Offered in three different packages – through-hole, single-in-line and surface-mount - the converters can easily be configured and monitored via the standard PMBus communication protocol.  Suitable for a wide range of applications, they accept input voltages from 4.5V to 14V and have an output voltage range of 0.6V to 3.3V with a typical efficiency of 97.1% at 5Vin, 3.3Vout and at 50% load.

The products are delivered with a default firmware configuration suitable for a wide range of operation in terms of input voltage, output voltage, and load.  Both series’ power management design includes advanced features like non-linear transient response, phase spreading, synchronization, digital current sharing, and optimized dead time control.  In addition to all these features, the 25A PoLs (OKDx-T/25-W12) series also has ‘Dynamic Loop Compensation’, where the PID parameters of the control loop are automatically calculated and configured depending on the operating conditions and output filter.  It measures the characteristics of the power train, calculates the proper compensator PID coefficients and implements them.

Other standard features include short circuit, over current, over voltage, over temperature, input under voltage protection, voltage margining and tracking, power good, remote sense and remote on/off.

Murata Power Solutions’ OKDx-T/20-W12 and OKDx-T/25-W12 series point of Load (PoL) DC/DC converters are very competitive with those from other suppliers in terms of performance and cost. Both series are compatible to the AMP standard (Architects of Modern Power  www.ampgroup.com).  Sample quantities are available now from stock.
