Conductivity Instrument measures eddy currents.

Press Release Summary:

Phasec 2s measures conductivity over range of 1%-110% IACS, and provides non-conductive coating thickness measurement using dedicated conductivity probe. Rotating probe can inspect fastener holes using either standard Hocking probe drive or Hocking Mini drive. Phasec 2s has operating frequency range of 100 Hz to 6 MHz in 900 steps, with gain of 0 to 85 dB in 0.1 dB steps. It includes 5-1/2 in. diagonal display with 480 x 320 pixels and LED backlighting.

Original Press Release:

New Hocking Phasec 2s Eddy Current Instrument

The Phasec 2s, a compact, fully featured portable eddy current instrument is the latest product from Hocking NDT Ltd. The Phasec 2s incorporates power and versatility in a package so small it fits in the palm of your hand.

A large (5 1/2" diagonal) display with 480 by 320 pixels gives pinpoint clarity while LED backlighting makes viewing under all lighting conditions easy and extremely clear.

Weighing just 0.94 kg (2 lbs., 1 oz) including batteries, the Phasec 2s allows work in confined spaces without the need for a remote control. The tough external casing is rated to IP64 and is resistant to day-to-day handling and shocks, as well as to moist tropical or salt-laden atmospheres.

The Phasec 2s has an operating frequency range of 100 Hz to 6 MHz in 900 steps, with a gain of 0 dB to 85 dB in 0.1 dB steps, allowing more choice and precision than ever before. X and Y axis gain levels are individually adjustable. These features allow the Phasec 2s to be used for all normal inspections on most conductive materials. The phase rotation of 0° to 360° in 0.1° steps allows for fine adjustments and careful positioning.

The Phasec 2s also provides rotating probe capability for fastener hole inspection using either the standard Hocking probe drive or the Hocking Mini drive. The Phasec 2s measures conductivity over the range of 1%-110% IACS and non- conductive coating thickness measurement using a dedicated conductivity probe.

The Phasec 2s has a wide range of low and high pass filters, greatly improving defect detectability. This, combined with the vigilant alarm system, ensures that flaws are not overlooked.

The on-screen menu system allows all functions and parameters to be set, stored in the memory, and recalled as needed. Up to 50 application settings and 50 traces may be stored internally.

All instrument settings can be easily found with the innovative cursor keypad and intuitive menus, and clearly viewed on the large screen. There are six user assignable hot keys allowing one touch setting of key parameters, ensuring a flexible and easy to use interface. The Phasec 2s can be connected to a PC for management of settings, data transfer, and printing.

The Phasec 2s features automatic balance load selection that, with one button push, determines the best load value, helping to cut down on items to carry to each inspection. Probe load is selected in the absolute mode from 1.3, 8.2, 22, 47, 82 and 120 microH values. Then, combined with the automatic Lift-off compensation, the optimum phase can be set with one button push, giving enhanced ease of use.

The use of lithium-ion battery technology means that the Phasec 2s can be used continuously for up to 14 hours without having to recharge - all from a battery weighing just 270 g (9 ½ OZ.). The battery does not suffer from "memory effects" that afflict traditional NiCAD batteries and can be charged from any state without degradation in performance.
