GMP to Introduce New Cable Placing Products at 2003 ICUEE Expo

Trevose PA; August 2003 -- General Machine Products Company, Inc. (GMP) will display several new and updated products designed for the aerial and underground placement of copper conductor, coaxial cable and fiber optic cable at its outdoor exhibit (#L337) during the International Construction & Utility Equipment Exposition (ICUEE), Louisville, KY, Sept. 23-25, 2003.

"In addition to featuring tools from our current product line and providing hands-on demonstrations, we're pleased to introduce the "Breeze" micro fiber cable blowing machine by U.K.-based CBS Products, Ltd.," said Doug Clemens, V.P. Sales & Marketing, GMP. "The Breeze will strengthen our growing line of fiber optic cable placing equipment and accessories."

The "Breeze" is designed to meet the need for micro fiber cable installation. Small and portable with ergonomic controls, the Breeze is ideal for external or internal use. The compliant double driven rollers provide a secure grip while safely handling the delicate micro fiber cable. In addition to the Breeze, other products that will be featured at GMP's exhibit are:

o The "Tornado" cable blowing machine and hydraulic power pack will move fiber optic cable of 0.23 to 1.25 in. (5.84-32 mm) diameter at speeds to 300 ft (90 m) per minute into pre-installed innerduct or direct-buried duct. It can accommodate innerduct from 1 to 2.48 in. (25-63 mm). The unit is designed to be safe, fast and effective, even on tough terrain. A conversion kit allows the Tornado to place fiber into micro duct of various sizes, including 12/10 mm and 10/8 mm.

o The new Model C2 Cable Lasher, re-engineered from GMP's original C Cable Lasher model, provides increased cable or bundle capacity from 1-5/8 inch (41 mm) to 1-7/8 inch (48 mm), overlash capability, and a larger drive housing opening to prevent wear on the existing cable during the overlash procedure.

o Duct Rodders that are constructed of fiberglass strands impregnated with a highly resilient thermosetting gel and proprietary strengthening agents. GMP Duct Rodders are mounted on Duct Rodder Carriers, which are constructed of lightweight tubular steel protected from corrosion by a black-oxide finish.
