Bresle Patches comes with an elastomer.

Press Release Summary:

Bresle Patches are used for measuring water-soluble salts and corrosion products on blast-cleaned steel. Patches are latex and chloride free and should be used within 12-months from date of purchase. High adhesion patches are suitable for testing on corroded or coarse-grade blasted steel.

Measure Contamination of Water-Soluble Salts and Corrosion Products on Blast-Cleaned Steel

For Immediate Release: The Bresle Patches are latex and chloride free. They have an elastomer so that the syringe does not pierce and complies with ISO 8502-6 and 8502-9.

The Bresle Test will measure water-soluble salts and corrosion products on blast-cleaned steel. These compounds are almost colorless and are localized at the lowest point of the rust pits.

If they are not removed prior to painting, chemical reactions can result in blister formation and accumulations of rust that destroy the adhesion between the substrate and the applied protective coating.

The Bresle Test can also be used for testing non-metallic abrasives for water-soluble salts and corrosion products.

Patch Shelf Life - The only degeneration on the Bresle Patches is the adhesive if exposed to extreme temperatures. It is recommended that the patches are used within a 12-month period from date of purchase.

Back Ground Contamination and Type of Patch - The elastomer on the Bresle Patch is not latex or polyurethane. The elastomer is a specific material manufactured for the Bresle Patch. We do not use latex due to latex being chloride containing material and polyurethane is not a strong enough material to stop the syringe piercing the elastomer when carrying out the injection-sucking cycles as per ISO 8502-9 section 6.

High Adhesion Patches - When high adhesion strength Patches are required for testing on very corroded or coarse-grade blasted steel, use the Bresle Patches Plus as an alternative to the Standard Bresle Patches.
