Kappa 330 and 350 from Komax

April 10, 2008

New Sensor Technology Aids Cut and Strip Setup

New sensor technology gives the new Kappa cutting and stripping machines from Komax a powerful advantage for easy setup while resulting in less wire waste.

Wire diameters are automatically detected by sensors using an inductive measuring system. This significantly shortens the setup and tool-less changeover times while reducing the chance of operator errors.

The Kappa 350 carries a double-blade design for processing round conductors with a cross section of up to 120mm² and a maximum outside diameter of up to 35mm. The powerful belt drive ensures gentle processing across the entire cross section range. The sensors are combined with a length measuring encoder to provide optimum process monitoring and accuracy. Zero-cuts are automatically minimized.

The Kappa 330 is designed for processing cables with a cross section of up to 35mm², multi-core conductors with an outside diameter of up to 16mm or flat cables with a width of up to 40mm. A belt drive or various double-roller drives are available to meet requirements.

Both units use the intuitive TopTouch software modeled after the Komax TopWin(TM) interface, Also, both can be optimized with a full array of optional add-ons.
