April 30, 2002 - SMART Board(TM) software works with company's family of interactive whiteboards and is available in English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Chinese Traditional, Chinese Simplified, Korean, Portuguese and Italian. When pen is selected from the SMART Pen Tray, user can write over top of any application using finger or stylus. Users can save and edit notes and distribute them in variety of file formats. File can be played back in Windows Media Player or viewed online.

Calgary, AB --- February 27, 2002 --- SMART Technologies Inc. announces the availability of the latest version of SMART Board software in ten languages for the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) operating system. The award-winning software, which works with the SMART Board family of interactive whiteboards, is now available in English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Chinese Traditional, Chinese Simplified, Korean, Portuguese and Italian.

SMART Board Software Features
SMART Board software powers the SMART Board interactive whiteboard and enables users to control computer applications simply by pressing on the board's touch-sensitive surface. When a pen is selected from the SMART Pen Tray, a user can write over top of any application using either his finger or a stylus - no special tools are required. Users can save and edit these notes and distribute them in a variety of file formats.
SMART Board software for Windows includes SMART Board driver 7.0, SMART Notebook(TM) 2.4 and a new feature, SMART Recorder. When SMART Recorder is activated, all annotations and applications displayed on the SMART Board interactive whiteboard can be recorded to a single file. Using any standard microphone, audio is captured in the same file and automatically synched with the data. This file can be played back in Windows Media Player or viewed online. Multilanguage SMART Board software for Windows currently ships with all SMART Board products and is available as a free download to SMART customers at www.smarttech.com/support/software.
The SMART Board software CD-ROM includes a PDF file of the SMART Boards User's Guide in each of the ten languages. When a user inserts the CD-ROM into a Windows computer, the interface will automatically launch in the same language as the user's operating system.
