November 13, 2012 - Universal IV CM monitor is accurate to 0.03% water with measurement resolution of 0.0002% water. It takes average of capacitive property of fluid over its entire length, and then onboard electronics compute relationship between capacitance change and water cut. Unit features Perm-A-Seal sensing element, installed directly into main process line, and built-in LCD and keypad. Configurable for NPT or flanged mountings, product also installs in all common pipe diameters.

New AMETEK Drexelbrook Universal IV CM is accurate to 0.03% water

A new water cut monitor with oil and gas industry-leading accuracy has been introduced by AMETEK Drexelbrook ( ). The Universal IV CM monitor is accurate to 0.03% water with measurement resolution of 0.0002% water. It has a built-in LCD display and keypad.

Its unique Perm-A-Seal sensing element installs directly into a main process line without requiring spool pieces, side-arms or slipstreams, and its proven Cote-Shield™ technology ignores coating buildup on the probe.

The monitor takes an average of the capacitive property of the fluid over its entire length, ensuring a smoother and more accurate response regardless of the mixture. The monitor’s onboard electronics then compute the relationship between capacitance change and water cut. The capacitance technology is significantly less expensive than microwave monitoring while offering superior accuracy for low-range applications.

Applications for the Universal IV CM include automatic well testing (AWT), lease automatic custody transfer (LACT), basic sediment and water (BS&W), separation vessels, pipeline slug detection, truck unloading, pipe protection, dielectric analysis, and machinery lube oil monitoring.

The Universal IV CM can be configured for NPT or flanged mountings and can be installed in all common pipe diameters. It is fully backward compatible with Drexelbrook’s CM-6 / CM-3 systems, offering users a seamless transition to the Universal IV system. An upgrade retrofit kit is available that allows replacement of existing transmitters without removing the probe.

AMETEK Drexelbrook is a world leader in level measurement for petroleum, chemical, petrochemical, food/beverage, water/wastewater, power, pharmaceutical, pulp/paper, mining, aggregates, feed/grain and other industries. It is a unit of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annual sales of more than US$3 billion.
