December 9, 2011 - Type 4550A KiTorq has bearing and slip-ring free design that consists of Type 455x KiTorq rotary torque measuring unit and Type 454x KiTorq stator torque evaluation unit. Both rotors and stators within system with same speed option may be used in any combination with one another. Stator automatically detects change in rotor and likewise sets required measurement parameters. Rotors capture torque using strain gauges, with generated signal amplified and processed at ~35 kSample.

Kistler Introduces KiTorq Torque Flange Measurement System

Novi, Michigan, USA - Kistler (www.kistler.com), a worldwide supplier of precision sensors, systems and instrumentation for the dynamic measurement of pressure, force, torque and acceleration, has introduced the Type 4550A KiTorq rotor torque flange measuring unit.

Featuring an accuracy class of 0.05, the bearing and slip-ring free design of the Kistler Type 4550A KiTorq system consists of a combination of both the Type 455x KiTorq rotary torque measuring unit and the Type 454x KiTorq stator torque evaluation unit. Both rotors and stators within the KiTorq system with the same speed option may be used in any combination with one another. The rotor may also be purchased individually, or as part of a fully calibrated torque measurement chain, together with a KiTorq stator. The stator automatically detects a change in the rotor and then automatically sets required measurement parameters.

All KiTorq rotors capture torque using strain gages (DMS), with their generated signal amplified and then processed at approximately 35 kSample. This high-speed scanning rate means that widely dynamic torque parameters can be measured to high degrees of accuracy and repeatability. In addition, various calibration options are available for the configurable output signals of the KiTorq system. All calibrations are conducted within a high-precision calibration system that is fully traceable to recognized standards.

The Kistler Type 4550A KiTorq system is ideal for the support of high-precision dynamic torque measurements within test bench engineering applications, including those most common to electric motors, gears, pumps and combustion engine test stands.
