An important new development in toggle clamps--self-adjusting, spring-loaded plungers--has been introduced by Carr Lane Mfg. Co. The company now has several spring-loaded toggle clamps, which apply a strong, fixed clamping force throughout their adjustment range of .20 inches. These push/pull clamps automatically compensate for workpiece variations while clamping with a known force. The clamps have a spring mechanism, which is totally enclosed in the plunger. Spring force ranges from 100 to 200 lbs for the new clamps. Patent pending.
